Red Lights - LetterboxD Review

A surprisingly pleasant affair...

I'll admit, the score may be weighed against the limited expectations I had for Red Lights, but nevertheless, it turned out to be an entertaining, albeit slow, enjoyable movie.

While some may shout that De Niro is better in Silver Linings, I personally think he is better in this. Alongside the ever dependable Cillian Murphy and the resolutely stout Sigourney Weaver, what else would you expect from such a stellar cast of Hollywood's forgotten and underrated!

The story itself takes a while to get going but there are at least 2 genuinely good twists along the way and not necessarily in the places you would expect them. The theme of paranormal abilities and supernatural goings on has largely been done to a death (no pun intended) but Red Lights managed to find a fresh angle and approach to things.

I guess the best way to approach this may well be with reduced expectations. If you do enter it that way, I would imagine most would be pleasantly surprised.

I rated this film 4 and a half out of 5!
